Pieces on a Board

“It’s amazing to see how pieces on a board reflect not only the individual life but also the collective history of civilizations”

Life is but pieces on a board
Some with fortunes, the rest
Set to play at the expense of will
The will to move, the will to stay.

No choice but to serve, the desire
Of the foreign, and disappear
Upon the hour; forgotten readily
No room, no glory, neither a memoir.

Scattered, sniffing, sensing the kill
An ambushed plot; but for what return
Brutality for the sake of brutality
Giving way to destruction.

Done with a frame and then
All in the dark; the king; the pawn
Sounds prevail the Colosseum again and again
Silent are those heard before.
